Formerly known as Horizon Credit Union, Horizon Bank was founded in 1964 by employees of the Illawarra County Council. The first loan granted by the bank was a sum of $80 to purchase a vacuum cleaner.

One of Horizon Bank’s key initiatives is ‘Green Horizons’, its environmental sustainability program. For example, all branches and the head offices are powered by renewable sources, and Horizon has plant life in all its branches and offices in order to create a healthier, purified working environment.
