Scams and Fraud Warning

Scam Alerts 2024

Scams are deliberately designed to deceive you. Here at Canstar Group (Canstar/Canstar Blue/RateCity), we have been made aware of several ways fraudsters are trying to use the Canstar brands to try and trick consumers into handing over their financial details or personal information.

This can include scam emails, fake websites and fraudulent calls pretending to be from the Canstar Group and impersonating Canstar Group staff members.

We want to alert you to this and to other types of fraudulent activity so that you know what to look out for and the steps you can take to protect yourself online.

Impersonation Emails

We are aware of some scammers sending emails impersonating Canstar and promoting false investment options for Fixed Term Deposits offered by a fake company called ‘Select Wealth Management PTY’. These offerings have been included in fake Canstar-branded emails and are not legitimate.

Some scam email addresses we are aware of include:

  • mail@canstarrates.com
  • mail.canstar-rates.com@19809D.clients.bmsend.com

These are scam email addresses and we urge you not to click on any links, open attachments or respond to requests from the source of these emails.

Canstar will only send newsletters from our official Canstar email addresses:

  • @canstar.com.au
  • @canstarblue.com.au
  • @ratecity.com.au

Impersonation Websites

There are also some scam websites promoting false investment options for Fixed Term Deposits. These websites may appear similar to the official Canstar website but contain false products and forms intending to compromise your personal information.

The official Canstar websites are www.canstar.com.au and www.canstarblue.com.au.

Any websites claiming to be Canstar but that are not the above websites are impersonation scams and we urge you not to click on any links, fill out any forms on the site or engage with the site by sharing any personal information.

Impersonation Phone Calls

Canstar and its associated subsidiaries do not undertake cold calls. If you’ve been called by someone claiming to be from Canstar, Canstar Blue or Ratecity offering to sell you a product or service, these calls are fraudulent. Be sure not to give out bank details or personal information and do not click on any links the caller may send you by email or SMS.

What should you do if you have been a victim of one of these scams?
