What types of travel insurance does Bank of Melbourne offer?
Bank of Melbourne offers a variety of domestic and international travel insurance policies. For international travellers, it offers either a comprehensive or an essentials plan, depending on the level of cover you require. A domestic travel plan is available for travel within Australia and a multi-trip option is available for domestic or international use, provided the trip journey includes a destination as least 250 kilometres from your home. Bank of Melbourne also offers a non-medical plan.
International and domestic policies may be purchased for an individual, couple or family, except for the mon-medical plans which cover individuals only.
What does Bank of Melbourne domestic travel insurance cover?
Bank of Melbourne’s domestic travel insurance policy will cover you for lost, damaged or stolen luggage, cancelling your trip unexpectedly, rental vehicle excess and personal liability, among other risks.
Please note that exclusions may apply including, but not limited to, claims arising from incidents outside of the insured period, claims involving consequential loss or claims arising from failing to take reasonable care of yourself.

Bank of Melbourne says its comprehensive and essentials international travel insurance policies will cover you for a medical and hospital fees, lost, damaged or stolen luggage, travel delay expenses, repatriation, cancellation fees and legal liability, amongst other things.

Bank of Melbourne’s international travel insurance policies have unlimited cover for overseas medical and hospital expenses under its comprehensive and essentials policies. The non-medical plan, however, does not include overseas hospital cover.

Bank of Melbourne says it will cover you up to a certain amount for repairing, replacing or reimbursing luggage and personal effects that are lost, stolen or damaged while travelling.
At the time of writing, under Bank of Melbourne’s domestic travel insurance policy, lost, stolen or damaged luggage may be covered up to $10,000 for a single plan, $10,000 each for a duo or $20,000 for a family policy. Domestic policies also cover claims for expenses caused by luggage delay.
Under Bank of Melbourne’s international travel insurance policies, at the time of writing, lost, damaged or stolen luggage will be covered to varying degrees depending on the plan. A comprehensive policy may cover up to $10,000 for an individual, $10,000 per person for a duo policy or $20,000 for a family plan. An essentials plan may cover up to $3,000 for an individual, $3,000 per person for a duo policy or $6,000 for a family plan.
International and domestic multi-trip policies provide cover up to $10,000 for lost, stolen or damaged luggage. A non-medical plan may also cover up to $10,000.
