Ski Travel Insurance

Ski Insurance

Ski Insurance is a specialist insurer of winter sports holidays, offering both standard and professional ski insurance. Below, we take a look at what’s offered under its standard policies.

What types of travel insurance does Ski Insurance offer?

You can take out Ski Insurance travel insurance for both domestic and international travel, and to cover an individual, a family or a group. At the time of writing, Ski Insurance offers two types of travel insurance policies: Ski Plus and Annual Ski Plus (which covers journeys over a 12 month period for individual trips up to 21 days). These are available as either overseas or domestic policies.

The following ski-specific benefits are available on all Ski Insurance travel insurance plans:

  • Unlimited emergency rescue – cover for emergency evacuation from the slopes to the nearest hospital.
  • Snow ski equipment hire – cover for alternative snow ski equipment after an accidental loss, theft or breakage of equipment.
  • Ski pack – cover for the value of unused ski pass, ski hire or tuition fee following loss or theft of your ski pass or if you can’t ski due to an accident or illness.
  • Piste closure – cover for travel to an alternative resort and the purchase of ski passes if you can’t ski at your pre-booked resort.
  • Bad weather and avalanche closure – cover for out-of-pocket expenses if you cancel your ski holiday due to bad weather or an avalanche.

In addition, Ski Insurance offers some optional add-ons, such as:

  • Extra cover for high value items: Up to $5,000 – you would need to list these items individually when you apply for cover. Items covered must be less than 12 months old.
  • Heli ski cover: Additional cover (for an additional premium) if your trip includes heli-skiing and you want cover for that.
  • Ski equipment hire excess: Designed to cover the cost of the excess you would pay for damage caused to equipment you have hired due to an event insured under your Ski Insurance policy. Also covers the excess for theft of hired equipment.
