BankVic credit card FAQs

To apply for any of BankVic’s credit cards, you must be able to satisfy the following criteria:

  • You must be an Australian resident
  • You must be over 18 years of age
  • You must not have declared bankruptcy or insolvency or had defaults on any loans, credit cards, interest free finance or store cards in the last five years

If you satisfy all of the above criteria, you can apply for a BankVic credit card online, over the phone , or by visiting a BankVic branch in person. BankVic states approved card applicants generally receive confirmation of approval within 24 hours, and the new card should arrive within 5-7 work days.

According to the BankVic website, you should have the following details handy when making an application:

  • Two payslips
  • Three bank statements
  • Your most recent statement for existing credit card or personal loans held 

You’ll need to activate the card before you can start using it. BankVic states you can activate your card over the phone, or you can follow the prompts in online banking.

When interest is charged

Interest is charged on purchases when you carry a balance on your BankVic credit card. Interest is charged on cash advances from the date of withdrawal. Fees and charges may apply, contact BankVic or visit the BankVic website for more details.

When interest is not charged

Depending on which card you go for, up to 55 interest-free days apply to BankVic credit card purchases. Interest-free days only apply if you have paid the balance in full for the previous month’s statement and for the current month’s statement.

 

Your credit limit for a BankVic credit card will be determined based on the information you provide in your application, keeping in mind the minimum and maximum credit limits available for each card.

If you wish to increase or decrease the credit limit on your card, you can submit a request at any time over the phone, at a Bankvic branch or by completing the relevant form.

You can close your BankVic credit card account at any time by sending a written request to BankVic. Your card balance will need to be repaid in full even after the card is closed, and you will continue to receive monthly statements until your card balance is fully repaid.
