You will have to activate the card when it arrives before you are able to use that card. Activate the card using online banking, call 13 14 72 and follow the prompts, or visit a branch in-store.

When interest is charged

Interest is charged when you carry a balance on your Heritage Bank credit card. Interest is charged on cash advances from the date of withdrawal (fees and charges apply) and balance transfers from the date of transfer.

Interest is charged on all purchases made using the Heritage Gold Low Rate Visa, as this card does not offer any interest-free days.

When interest is not charged

Up to 55 interest-free days apply to the Heritage Bank Platinum, Classic, and Freedom Visa credit cards. Interest-free days only apply to purchases if you have paid the balance in full for the current month’s statement (the statement on which the purchases are listed).

Your credit limit for a Heritage Bank credit card will be determined based on the information you provide in your application, keeping in mind the minimum and maximum credit limits available for each card. Find out more about how credit limits are determined here.

Heritage Bank was founded in 1981 following the merger of the Toowoomba Permanent Building Society (established 1875) and the Darling Downs Building Society (established 1897). So the bank has a long history of more than 140 years in Australia.

In 2011, Heritage Building Society officially changed its name to Heritage Bank. And in this modern era, Heritage Bank offers a blog full of handy hints on money management.

In keeping with its “people first” motto, Heritage Bank supports the Australian community in a variety of ways. Community grants are offered via a unique system – if you have a Community Saver savings account, every three months, you can choose a community group to support. That group receives a grant from Heritage Bank of a percentage of your Community Saver account – without you paying a cent of your own savings.

Employees receive one day of paid Volunteer’s Leave each year, and paid leave to donate blood through their local Red Cross Blood Bank. Heritage Bank also awards the annual Volunteer of the Year Award.

As for culture and the arts, the annual Heritage Bank Photographic Awards are a great chance for amateur photographers of all ages to showcase the beauty of the Australian outback and city or explore the rest of the world. Put simply, the gallery showing the Top 50 photos are absolutely stunning. Heritage Bank also sponsors the Queensland Eisteddfod, Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers, Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC) Green Jam sessions, and many business excellence awards.

When it comes to protecting the environment, Heritage Bank again approaches it from the customer’s point of view. Customers can support environmental protection groups via donations or the Community Saver account mentioned above, with hundreds of groups on offer including the Animal Welfare League, Australia Zoo Wildlife Warriors, Moggill Koala Hospital, Petrie Creek Catchment Care Group.
