Types of Hunter United credit cards

At the time of writing, Hunter United Credit Union has two different types of credit cards available for you to choose from:

  2. Home Loan Visa Credit Card

Hunter United Low Rate Home Loan Visa Credit Card

The Hunter United Home Loan Visa is exactly the same as the Low Rate Credit Card, except that it is only available to customers who have already taken out a home loan with Hunter United.

Eligibility to apply for a Hunter United credit card

To apply for the Hunter United Low Rate Visa, you must be able to satisfy the following criteria:

  • Australian permanent resident
  • Over 18 years of age

How to apply for a Hunter United credit card

If you satisfy all of the above criteria, then you can apply for a Hunter United credit card by comparing credit cards on the Canstar website and applying online on the Hunter United website. You can also download and print an application form. If you need help to apply, you can call Hunter United on 1800 10 10 63.

You will need the usual documentation to apply for a credit card, including:

  1. Your employment details
  2. Your annual income
  3. Your usual living expenses
  4. Your Australian driver’s licence details or your passport details
  5. Details about assets you own such as a home, car, other belongings, or savings
  6. Any debts you currently owe on other credit cards, loans, or overdrafts

Once you’ve completed the application process, you’ll need to activate the card before you can use it. You can activate your card using online banking, by calling Hunter United on 1800 10 10 63, or by visting a branch.

Yes, you can manage your Hunter United credit card through online banking. By using the Hunter United online banking service, you can access statements of your savings, view transaction information, view all of your accounts, and more.

When interest is charged

Interest is charged on purchases when you carry a balance on your Hunter United credit card. Interest is charged on cash advances from the date of withdrawal and balance transfers from the date of the transfer.

When interest is not charged

Up to 55 interest-free days apply to purchases made on Hunter United credit cards, as long as you have paid the balance in full for the previous month’s statement and for the current month’s statement. For more information about interest-free days, check out our article on how they work.

Your credit limit for a Hunter United credit card will be determined based on the information you provide in your application, keeping in mind the minimum credit limit (see above). Find out more about how credit limits are determined here.

If you wish to change the credit limit on your card, you can apply for this at any time by emailing enquiry@hunterunited.com.au or by calling (02) 4941 3888. Hunter United may approve or reject the request based on their lending criteria.

You can close your Hunter United credit card account at any time by sending a written request to your nearest branch. Your card balance will need to be repaid in full even after the card is closed, and you will continue to receive monthly statements until your card balance is fully repaid.
