To apply online for one of Regional Australia Bank’s credit card products, you must satisfy the following criteria:

  • You must be 18 years of age or older, 
  • You must be a permanent Australian resident or Australian citizen, and 
  • You must earn at least $35,000 if applying for a Visa Platinum Rewards Credit Card.

Regional Australia Bank says your credit card can only be used once the account to which it is attached has been activated and the card has been signed. Regional Australia Bank says you can activate your account over the phone, via internet or mobile banking, or by writing to Regional Australia Bank.

You can manage your Regional Australia Bank credit card through online banking or via the Regional Australia Bank app. The app can be used to quickly view your account balance without logging in, view your current interest rate, and activate your account amongst other things.

When interest is charged:

Interest is charged when you carry a balance on your Regional Australia Bank credit card. Interest is charged on cash advances from the date the transaction is made until the date the transaction is paid in full. When interest is not charged:

At the time of writing, there is an interest-free period of up to 45 days on purchases for the Visa Platinum Rewards Credit Card and up to 55 days on purchases for the Your Choice Credit Card. 

Interest-free days only apply if you have paid the balance in full for the previous month’s statement and for the current month’s statement (the statement on which the purchases are listed).

Your credit limit for a Regional Australia Bank credit card will be determined based on the information you provide in your application, keeping in mind the minimum and maximum credit limits available for each card.  This will be set out in the letter of offer and financial table. 

Regional Australia Bank says you can apply to increase your credit limit at any time. Regional Australia Bank also says it can reduce or cancel your credit limit at any time, whether or not you are in default. 

Note that Regional Bank Australia’s Your Choice credit card has a minimum credit limit of $500, and its Visa Platinum Rewards credit card has a minimum credit limit of $6,000.

You can close your Regional Australia Bank credit card account at any time by calling Regional Australia Bank. Regional Australia Bank says your card balance will need to be repaid in full even after a card is cancelled.
