PD Insurance car insurance

PD Insurance is a 100% online provider of car insurance and pet insurance. Canstar does not currently have a rating for PD Insurance car insurance; however, we have provided a summary of the cover available below.

What types of car insurance does PD Insurance offer?

PD Insurance offers third party property damage, third party fire and theft and comprehensive car insurance policies. Some benefits of each include:

Comprehensive car insurance

This policy provides the highest level of cover out of the PD Insurance policies available. It covers damage to your car as well as damage caused to other people’s vehicles or property. Some exclusions, limitations and special terms apply, so it’s important to read PD Insurance’s Product Disclosure Statement, Target Market Determination and other applicable documentation carefully.

Third party fire and theft

This provides cover for damage that you cause with your vehicle to other people’s cars and property. This policy also insures you against theft or fire damage to your car. It is a mid-range level of cover that PD Insurance provides and is aimed at drivers who do not want comprehensive cover but need more than the basic third party property damage policy.

Third party property damage

This option is likely to be the cheapest available from PD Insurance and provides cover for damage that you cause with your car to other people’s vehicle or property. However, it does not provide cover for damage to your vehicle.

If you’re unsure about which kind of car insurance is most appropriate for you, or you’d like more information on the differences between the different levels of cover, here’s our guide to the different kinds of car insurance.

Below is further information on PD Insurance’s comprehensive car insurance product.

If you choose to go with PD Insurance, you can get a car insurance quote directly through its website or by phone.

Yes, PD Insurance lets Comprehensive Car Insurance policyholders increase their standard excess, in exchange for a lower premium. However, there is a minimum excess payable (so policyholders cannot elect to pay a lower excess, unless they opt for PD’s ‘Excess Buster’ option). This standard excess is to be paid on top of other excesses applicable to the policy, when it comes time to make a claim.

Remember, generally the higher the excess, the lower the car insurance premiums will be, and vice versa.

No, PD Insurance’s car insurance policies are offered on an agreed value basis, although the amount PD will agree to cover your car for may depend partly on its market value. Your agreed value should be shown on your insurance certificate, but if not, it could be worth contacting PD Insurance. If you’re not sure which one would be best for your vehicle, read our article explaining the difference between market value and agreed value.

You can lodge a claim with PD Insurance by using its claims service online or by calling the PD Insurance claims service centre. If your car has been stolen, PD Insurance encourages you to notify the police before lodging a claim.

Your PD Insurance car insurance policy will automatically renew if you choose not to alter it after receiving a renewal notice. PD Insurance may invite you to renew with a written renewal notice no later than 14 days before your policy expires. If you are invited to renew, you must inform PD Insurance if you don’t want to renew or your policy will automatically roll over.

Consider comparing car insurance policies before simply renewing the same policy, to help ensure you can continue to get the cover you need as well as value for money.
