Toyota currently offer a comprehensive car insurance policy that can be taken out for Toyota, Lexus and other vehicles. Toyota Insurance is underwritten by Japanese insurer Aioi Nissay Dowa Insurance. Some features offered by Toyota through its insurance are:
- The use of genuine Toyota parts in repairs
- A lifetime repair guarantee
- A new replacement Toyota if yours is considered to be a total loss and is less than three years old
What additional features does Toyota offer on its car insurance products?
Toyota says its car insurance policies include the following features and benefits:
- Cover for accidental loss or damage to your vehicle (including fire and theft)
- Cover for accidental loss or damage to other people’s property
- Glass cover
- Cover for keys, locks and barrels
- Replacement with new vehicle after a total loss
- Cover for legal costs
- A rental car following theft
- Towing and storage
- Emergency repairs
Some optional features that you may choose to include in your policy are:
- Ability to choose a voluntary excess to reduce your premiums
- A rental car following accidental damage

Toyota allows you to nominate a voluntary excess to reduce your premiums. This may affect the cost of your car insurance premiums. A higher excess will typically result in a lower premium, while a lower excess will typically result in a higher premium.
You can lodge a claim with Toyota over the phone by speaking with a Toyota claims consultant. If your claim is accepted, Toyota will settle the claim by either arranging for the repair, covering the costs of repair for your vehicle, or replacing your vehicle if it is a total loss (if relevant).
First, consider comparing car insurance policies before simply renewing the same policy, so that you continue to get the cover you need as well as value for money.
Toyota says it will write to you before your policy expires and give you the option to renew your policy and pay the premium set out in the notice, or to inform you that Toyota will no longer provide cover.
