Eligibility to apply for a Community First Credit Union credit card

In order to apply for a Community First Credit Union credit card, you must be:

  • Over 18 years of age
  • An Australian citizen or permanent resident
  • Earning a regular income
  • Not bankrupt or have a history of outstanding credit defaults
  • In your current job for longer than six months

How to apply for a Community First Credit Union credit card

When interest is charged

Interest is charged on purchases when you carry a balance on your Community First Credit Union credit card. Interest is charged on cash advances from the date of withdrawal, and balance transfers from the date of transfer.

When interest is not charged

Up to 55 interest-free days apply to Community First credit card purchases if you have paid the balance in full for the previous month’s statement and for the current month’s statement.

Your credit limit for a Community First Credit Union credit card will be determined based on the information you provide in your application, within the minimum and maximum credit limits that apply to each card (see above). You can request to increase or decrease your credit limit by visiting your local branch or by contacting the customer service team. Community First may approve or reject your request at their discretion.

You can close your Community First credit card account at any time by contacting them over the phone. 

Your card balance will need to be repaid in full even after the card is closed. You will continue to receive monthly statements until your card balance is fully repaid.
