Such is our demand for mobile apps these days, we seem to expect an app for almost everything. In the world of consumer finance, this has forced competitive institutions to become extremely innovative. As a result, we’ve seen plenty of everyday banking apps developed along with a number of insurance apps.
While car insurance mobile apps are common in Australia, you won’t find as many home or contents insurance apps. But Suncorp has recently made a big step forward in this area – announcing a $5 million stake in a platform which will allow customers to instantly insure individual items via a mobile app.
Partnered with US-based technology developer Tr?v, the two companies will launch the world-first on-demand insurance platform called Tr?v Protection in May – integrating it with the current Tr?v app. Through the revamped app, customers will be able to switch insurance on and off for individual items such as cameras, tablets and laptops.

Home and Contents Insurance Apps
Along with Tr?v, listed below are other useful apps for managing home and contents insurance.
Tr?v helps you easily collect information about anything you buy, from taking photos and storing receipts and product details, to researching the market value of items. It even notifies you of depreciation in value for items such as your home and car. Through the app’s partnership with Suncorp you can simply click the “Insure” link to update your Suncorp contents insurance policy.
AAMI Access lets you manage your home and contents policy on the go. You can use the app to check your policy details, make changes, build a catalogue of photos and receipts, book a valuation or repair job, view information, and make a claim. It even sends you alerts when extreme weather is on the way so you have time to prepare.
You can use the ANZ Grow app if you are with ANZ to manage your insurance in the same place as your banking, super, and investments.
- Available on iPhone only
- See existing ANZ policies and add non-ANZ policy details
- Get quotes and buy insurance with no paperwork
NRMA Insurance customers can manage all their NRMA policies in this app. This includes accessing claim details, receiving renewal alerts and obtaining quotes for any policy.
As NRMA’s sister brand in WA, SGIO’s insurance app has the same functionality as the NRMA Insurance app.
As the SA version of NRMA, SGIC’s insurance app has the same functionality as the NRMA Insurance app.
If your insurance provider doesn’t have an app, don’t forget that there are a number of general home inventory apps available on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. These apps can be incredibly helpful when you have contents insurance because they help keep track of what’s in your house and what each item is worth, thus helping you to claim on your contents insurance.
The be all and end all
