Such is our demand for mobile apps these days, we seem to expect an app for almost everything. In the world of consumer finance, this has forced competitive institutions to become extremely innovative. As a result, we’ve seen plenty of everyday banking apps developed along with a number of insurance apps.
While car insurance mobile apps are common in Australia, you won’t find as many home or contents insurance apps. But Suncorp has recently made a big step forward in this area – announcing a $5 million stake in a platform which will allow customers to instantly insure individual items via a mobile app.
Partnered with US-based technology developer Tr?v, the two companies will launch the world-first on-demand insurance platform called Tr?v Protection in May – integrating it with the current Tr?v app. Through the revamped app, customers will be able to switch insurance on and off for individual items such as cameras, tablets and laptops.
