About Everyday Car Insurance

Everyday Car Insurance, formerly known as Woolworths Car Insurance, provides car insurance to Australian consumers, as part of a selection of products that also includes home insurance, landlord insurance and pet insurance. At the time of writing, Everyday Car Insurance also offers customers a 10% monthly discount on their Woolworths shop, as well as other partner discounts.

Everyday Car Insurance is an agent for The Hollard Insurance Company.

What types of car insurance does Everyday Insurance offer?

Everyday Insurance offers the following car insurance policies:

Comprehensive or Drive Less Pay Less insurance

Comprehensive car insurance provides the highest level of cover. It typically includes protection for accidental damage to your car and other people’s property, theft, fire, malicious damage, and natural events such as hail or storms.  Due to its broad coverage, it is generally the most expensive type of optional car insurance.

Along with its comprehensive cover, Everyday Car Insurance allows you to customise your policy with optional extras, such as roadside assistance, $0 excess windscreen cover, and a hire car after an insured event. While these added features can offer greater peace of mind, they may also increase your overall premium.

If you drive less than 15,000 kilometres a year, you may be eligible for the Drive Less Pay Less option, which provides comprehensive cover at a potentially lower cost for low-usage drivers.

Third Party Property, Fire and Theft insurance

Third Party Property, Fire and Theft insurance provides cover for damage you might cause to other people’s vehicles or property, as well as theft, attempted theft, and fire damage to your own vehicle. However, this level of cover doesn’t typically protect against malicious damage, natural events, or accidental damage to your own car.

Everyday Car Insurance lets you add optional extras like roadside assistance, $0 excess windscreen cover, and a hire car after an insured event to your policy. However, these additions can increase your premium.

Third Party Property Damage insurance

Third Party Property Damage insurance is typically the most basic and affordable form of optional car insurance. It provides cover for damage caused to other people’s vehicles and property. However, it doesn’t cover damage to your own car, nor does it include protection against theft, fire, or natural events.

What does comprehensive car insurance from Everyday Insurance cover?

Everyday Comprehensive Car Insurance provides coverage for:

  • Crashes and collisions: including new-for-old replacement if your car is a total loss within the first 24 months of registration and you’re the first registered owner.
  • Damage to another person’s vehicle or property: legal liability cover up to $20 million.
  • Theft and vandalism: including damage from attempted theft.
  • Natural events: such as storms, floods, earthquakes, cyclones, hail, or other extreme weather.
  • Towing: covers reasonable towing costs to the nearest safe or secure place after a covered incident.
  • Damage caused by other drivers or passengers: legal liability cover if someone drives your car with your consent or if a passenger causes damage while entering or exiting the vehicle.
  • Lock and car key replacement: up to $1,000 if your keys are stolen.
  • Trailer or caravan cover: up to $1,000 if it’s damaged in a covered incident while being towed.
  • Emergency travel and accommodation: up to $500 if you’re more than 200km from home and your car is stolen or not drivable.
  • Essential repairs: up to $500 to make your car roadworthy after an insured event, so you can reach your destination safely.
  • Child safety seats and prams: up to $500 for replacement if they’re damaged or stolen.
  • Personal property inside the car: up to $500 for personal items meant to be worn or carried, such as clothing, bags, and electronic devices, if stolen or damaged during an insured event.

Optional extras like roadside assistance, $0 windscreen excess, and a hire car after an insured event are also available for an added cost.

Drivers who travel less than 15,000 km per year may be eligible for the Drive Less Pay Less option, which can reduce premiums while maintaining full comprehensive cover.

For more detail on what is and isn’t covered under Everyday Comprehensive Car Insurance, read the product disclosure statement (PDS)

Does Everyday Insurance offer discounts for its car insurance?

At the time of writing, Everyday Insurance offers a Drive Less Pay Less policy for drivers who travel less than 15,000 km per year. According to the insurer, eligible customers could save up to $320 annually compared to its standard comprehensive cover.

You may also be able to reduce your premium by choosing to pay annually rather than in monthly instalments. However, be sure to review the latest terms, conditions, and any available discounts, as insurers can update their pricing, policies, and promotions at any time.
