With school holidays just around the corner, a family trip to the movies is an easy way to keep the kids entertained. But with ticket prices higher than ever, it can quickly become an expensive outing.
If you bank with ANZ or NAB, there’s good news—both offer discounted movie tickets through their rewards programs. Here’s how to save on your next cinema visit.
NAB offers discounted movie eVouchers for Event Cinemas and Village Cinemas through its NAB Goodies program, which offers customers cashback deals and discounts on a range of products.
The movie eVouchers start from $13.50 and can be bought through the NAB app under the NAB Goodies section.
You can buy up to five vouchers in one go, and each voucher is valid for 12 months. To get the discount, you must pay with a NAB Visa card or NAB Now Pay Later digital card. Once you buy them, the vouchers are emailed to you and usually activate within one hour.
This offer expires on June 30, so ‘nab’ your discount while you can!
ANZ Visa cardholders can buy general admission tickets for $12 at HOYTS cinemas. The offer is available every day of the week, and you can purchase up to six tickets at a time.
To buy online, go to the ANZ Circle website and follow the link to the HOYTS ticketing page. Just make sure to use your ANZ Visa card when you pay (and keep in mind there’s a booking fee for online purchases).
You can also claim the same offer directly at the cinema. Find the code on the movie times screen, then go to the ANZ Circle site on your phone and follow the link to the HOYTS page. Show the code at the counter and pay with your ANZ Visa card—and there’s no booking fee when you buy in person.
This is an ongoing offer as part of ANZ Circle, so you can take advantage of the discount anytime.
Canstar finance expert Sally Tindall says: “One of the easiest ways to get more value out of your bank is to take advantage of any rewards or discounts programs they might have. Aside from cheap movie tickets, you could get discounts on hotel bookings, rental cars, concert tickets and more. Given how much money some of us pay in fees and charges to our banks every month, it seems like a no-brainer to get something back in return!”
