Douglas Brown is currently a casual academic in the Bushfire Protection and Building Construction courses at Western Sydney University. He completed his PhD entitled 'Domestic Architecture and the Perception of Risk in Bushfire-Prone Areas' at the Faculty of Architecture, Design & Planning at the University of Sydney. In 2016 Brown set up a research consultancy called Bushfire Architecture which provides design advice to building professionals with clients in bushfire-prone areas. In 2010 he completed his Masters in Design Science, Sustainable Design at the University of Sydney after undertaking a Graduate Internship with the NSW Rural Fire Service in 2009. He is a Bushfire CRC PhD scholarship recipient and an Associate Student of the Bushfire and Natural Hazards CRC.
