Phone and internet bundles
NBN plans with home phone bundles
Most major NBN providers offer home phone and internet bundles. There’s no extra cost to connect a compatible landline phone to your modem, but you’re usually required to either a) pay for calls on a pay-as-you-go basis, usually charged per minute, or b) buy a call pack.
Unlimited standard national call packs typically cost around $10 per month and include unlimited standard calls to local, national and mobile numbers. Your telco may also offer additional packs with international calls, or calls to premium numbers.

Can I use a home phone on the NBN?
If you’re looking to keep a landline or home phone, many providers offer NBN and phone bundling options. Instead of a landline operating over traditional copper telephone lines, these plans use Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) technology that runs over your NBN connection.
This means your home phone will connect to a port in your modem or NBN connection box, rather than the old telephone outlets built into your home’s walls. You’ll only be able to make or receive calls when your internet is active and your modem is plugged into a power outlet.
Internet and mobile phone bundles
If you’re looking for a convenient way to lower your home internet and mobile costs, bundling both services with one provider can potentially earn you a discount or deal. Bundling internet and mobile phone under one account can get you a lower price each month, bonus plan inclusions, or other advantages depending on the provider and plan.
While there are dozens of telcos selling both mobile phone and internet plans, not all of them offer incentives for customers who sign up to both. But if you’re looking to combine your home internet and mobile phone plans, we’ve listed some current internet and mobile bundle offers below.

Mobile broadband, home wireless and data-only SIM plans with mobile phone bundles
If you’re a data-only SIM/mobile broadband or 4G/5G home internet customer, you may be able to earn bundle discounts by combining your internet and mobile phone plans on one account. Some currently available home wireless or mobile broadband bundle options are below.
Optus
- Can share data across mobile broadband/data SIM and eligible mobile phone plans
Telstra
- Can bundle up to 5 eligible mobile broadband and mobile phone plans
Yomojo
- $5 monthly discount on mobile plans when bundled with a home wireless broadband plan ($2.50 monthly discount for each additional mobile plan, up to $15 in total)

Several providers allow you to bundle data-only SIM plans/mobile broadband with mobile phone plans, under a data sharing or family mobile plan. However, some providers will offer family bundles with a single, shared pool or data, rather than a separate data allowance for each mobile line or data SIM.
What to look for when comparing phone and internet bundles
It’s important to compare the same features on home phone and internet bundles, or mobile phone and internet bundles, as you would if buying each service separately. Some things to look for include:
- Total cost of your internet and mobile or home phone plans: How much will you pay each month, including any bundle discounts? How does this compare to buying plans separately from different providers?
- Type of internet connection: Whether you’re connected to the NBN or another form of broadband, and the type of connection you have (e.g. Fibre to the Premises).
- NBN or internet speed: The speed tier you pick will impact the price of your internet plan and also how your service performs.
- Mobile plan inclusions: How much data do you need each month? What about features such as international calling?
- Home phone plan inclusions: While these plans don’t include data, you may want to consider if you need international or premium call inclusions.
- Network coverage for mobile phone plans: If you have a network preference (Telstra, Optus or Vodafone), this will narrow down which telcos you can bundle with.
- Modem inclusions: Do you need to add a modem, or can you bring your own?
Can I bundle internet and phone with Telstra?
Telstra offers home internet, mobile phone and home phone options. While there’s no discounts for bundling Telstra internet with a Telstra mobile phone plan, you can add all services to a single account, or bundle mobile plans with data-only SIM plans.
Can I bundle internet and phone with Optus?
Optus offers home internet, mobile phone and home phone plans. Customers can add a home phone to their Optus NBN or internet plan, and share data across mobile phone and data-only SIM/mobile broadband plans.
Can I bundle internet and phone with TPG?
TPG customers can claim a $5 monthly discount on selected mobile SIM plans when bundled with a TPG home internet plan. The telco also offers home phone calling packs on internet plans from $5 per month.
Are internet and phone bundles worth it?
A phone and internet bundle deal can potentially save you money. But if you’re not concerned about convenience, you may find it cheaper overall to source each plan separately. A $5 or $10 saving per month can be a good incentive to bundle, but not if comparable plans from two different providers will cost you less overall.
If you’re set on a single provider for all of your telco needs, you can shave anywhere from $60-$120 off your bills each year by bundling. However, deal-savvy customers should make the effort to shop around for both mobile phone and internet plans. You may be surprised at how competitive smaller providers can be, even if you’re not bundling.
When it comes to home phone and internet bundles, you’ll need to bundle your VoIP line with your internet plan regardless. If you use your home number regularly, adding on a call pack with unlimited minutes will generally be cheaper overall than opting for a pay-as-you-go plan.
