About AGL

Integrated energy provider AGL is one of the biggest electricity and gas retailers in the country, with 4.5 million residential and business energy and telco customers.

AGL operates throughout Australia, offering electricity and solar in New South Wales, Victoria, South East Queensland and South Australia. It also offers natural gas in NSW, VIC, SA and Western Australia.

AGL sells natural gas across the country. Its gas plan/s mirror its electricity deals in terms of incentives and bonuses.

AGL solar

While all AGL market offers come with a solar feed-in tariff (FiT), the most generous solar rebates are reserved for those who sign up to its solar-specific plan. However, this plan typically comes with higher usage charges.

AGL’s Solar Savers plan has a higher FiT for the first 10kWh/day of exported electricity per day.

AGL benefits and rewards

AGL Rewards

AGL customers can join the AGL Rewards program, giving them access to discounts, offers and benefits from participating businesses. 

Some offers include discounts on movie tickets, fuel, gift cards, theme parks and restaurants. 

Utilities bundling 

AGL customers can bundle their energy, internet and mobile services to receive bill discounts. Customers with energy plans through AGL can save $10 per month on their AGL mobile phone plan and $15 per month on their AGL internet plan. 

However, be sure to compare energy and telco plans separately before deciding to bundle. You may save more money by buying electricity, gas, phone or internet separately from various providers.

AGL’s mobile app has a range of features listed below that help customers access and understand their household energy needs and costs.

  • Check your energy usage: Customers with smart meters can check their energy usage in kilowatt hours (kWh) or in cost. 
  • Pay your bills: Customers can see bill cost so far, bill projection and pay any outstanding bills.
  • Submit meter readings: To avoid a meter reader, AGL allows you to submit a self-read. 
  • Change your details: Update personal information, payment details and contact information. 
  • Prepare for moving house: Arrange your home for moving and track electricity progress. 
  • Contact customer service: An AI assistant can help with basic functions or connect you to an AGL representative if needed.
