Aussies have spoken: Turkish Delight is officially our favourite chocolate bar. The results come as Canstar crowns the winners of the 2026 Most Satisfied Customer Awards for chocolate bars, blocks, and boxes.
While Turkish Delight claimed the top spot for bars, Whittaker’s was named the best-rated chocolate block, and Roses took the win for chocolate boxes.
The awards, determined by the opinions and ratings of more than 2,000 chocolate-loving Aussies, revealed just how much the nation loves its sweet treats, with one-in-10 saying they eat chocolate everyday, and nearly a third (30%) saying chocolate makes everything better.
Hiding stock and stress eating - how Australians eat their chocolate
Canstar’s survey uncovered revealing – and sneaky – chocolate habits, with the data showing:
- 30% will always keep a stock of chocolate at home
- Over one-fifth (22%) say they eat chocolate when they’re stressed, and
- 11% admit to hiding their stock of chocolate from the people they live with
When it comes to flavour, milk chocolate reigns supreme, winning the majority (62%) of consumers. Dark chocolate appeals to 30%, while the remaining prefer white chocolate.
While adding fruit to chocolate is sometimes a contentious topic, Canstar’s data shows most Australians are happy to see fruit mixed into their chocolate, with only 11% saying it should be off-limits.
Rising cost of chocolate limiting purchases
The rising cost of cocoa has impacted Aussies at the supermarket checkout, with Canstar’s data showing over two-thirds (68%) of shoppers have changed their buying behaviour in response. Of those:
- 70% are buying chocolate less frequently
- 52% will choose what to buy based on what’s on sale
- 23% will buy in bulk when it’s on sale
Top-rated chocolate brands revealed
More than 2,000 chocolate shoppers rated chocolate brands on value for money, taste, packaging, texture and variety/range . The winners earned the top spots by achieving the highest scores, particularly in the categories that matter most when it comes to customer satisfaction.
The 2026 results saw two brands continue their winning streaks, while a third returned to the top of the podium:
- Whittaker’s secured its third consecutive win for chocolate blocks
- Roses took home the title for chocolate boxes, marking its second win
- Turkish Delight took out the award for chocolate bars, returning to the top spot for the first time since 2021.

Canstar’s spokesperson, Eden Radford, says, “Chocolate is one of those treats that cuts across age, lifestyle and budget, and Canstar’s latest research shows just how much Australian households love it."
She added: “The increase in cocoa costs has clearly been felt at the checkout, and shoppers are responding in practical ways. They’re being more selective, price‑conscious, and strategic about when and how they buy. This is a great example of how Aussie consumers are becoming increasingly savvy at the supermarket, while still getting the treats they love.
“Canstar’s Most Satisfied Customers Awards recognise the brands that are delivering on the things that matter most to customer satisfaction. Whittaker’s and Roses have both reclaimed their titles, while Turkish Delight returns to the top spot for chocolate bars, proof that classic favourites continue to shine.
“Australians might differ on the best flavour or the right amount of fruit in a block, but what’s clear is that chocolate is a much-loved indulgence. And while rising prices are being felt, Canstar’s research shows shoppers are simply choosing to buy smarter so they can continue enjoying the chocolate they love.”
