Every year, we research and rate which home insurance companies offer outstanding value (a 5-star rating) for Australians wanting peace of mind.
National Award Winners
In our annual home insurance ratings, we give policies a 5-star rating on a State or Territory level (e.g. outstanding value for Queensland) and then collate those to form our National Awards. We give awards for outstanding value Home and Contents policies, Home Building policies, and Contents Only policies.
The 2016 award winners for Landlord Insurance have already been released for this year in a separate report designed for property investors.
In this year’s home and contents insurance star ratings, the national award-winning options for Aussies are as follows:
ANZ was a first time winner this year, taking home the award for Home and Contents Insurance policies.
This achievement can largely be attributed to the inclusions of ANZ’s Home policy. Among the assessed 49 insurers, ANZ’s policy offers comprehensive cover for the following:
- Accidental Damage
- Storm Cover
- Flood Cover
- New for old replacement
- Option to choose your own builder for rebuilding
Coverage for the cost of full re-building is one feature of this policy that sets it above the market average. In addition to this, the policy allows customers to easily make a claim on ANZ’s 24-hour claim service for peace of mind in claimable situations.
ANZ has a long history, founded in 1835 in Sydney as the Bank of Australasia.
