Every 5-Star Rated Credit Card Revealed

Canstar has released the latest Credit Cards Star Ratings research, rating 190 credit cards across 55 lenders.

Canstar is pleased to unveil the latest batch of Credit Cards Star Ratings. Out of the 190 different credit cards rated, 52 products achieved a 5-Star-rating in at least one category.

All cards were assessed on price and value by analysing an array of characteristics such as:

  • Fees
  • Interest Rates
  • Number of Free Days
  • Standard Features
  • Premium Features
  • Rewards Programs and Loyalty Programs
  • No Frills Options

As we know, there are different types of credit cards and no card is a one-size-fits-all option, so our research team assessed cards under 5 different cardholder profiles:

  • Low Rate: For consumers seeking a credit card with a low-interest rate and flexible repayment conditions.
  • Low Fee: For consumers seeking a credit card with low ongoing fees, and who may be looking to access some premium card facilities.
  • Premium Cards: For consumers seeking a credit card or charge card that comes with extensive benefits beyond the standard offerings. Rewards are an added benefit, but not a necessity.
  • Rewards: For consumers seeking a credit or charge card that gives them the optimal return in rewards points for their everyday spending.
  • Frequent Flyer: For consumers seeking a credit card or charge card that will allow them to redeem points for flights.

Be sure to compare cards in the card type that matches your spending behaviour, and check our guide on how to choose a credit card.

Of course, some people spend far more than others each year, so the research team took that into account by further narrowing the Premium Cards, Rewards and Frequent Flyer profiles with different spending categories.
