The Agribusiness Association of Australia (AAA) has announced the 2015 winner of their annual Agricultural Career Scholarship for high school graduates who want to undertake tertiary agricultural studies.
This prestigious $3,000 scholarship is open to eligible high school students. The scholarship is announced in August each year, to give students the time and the peace of mind to apply for the agricultural courses they want.
The 2015 winner of the scholarship is Edon Lindell, from the ACT. Edon plans to work for a rural-based veterinary practice after completing her tertiary studies, before opening her own practice in the Southern Tablelands region.
AAA President Dr Theresa Craig said, “Edon is an accomplished student with high academic achievements in mathematics and science who hopes to study veterinary science at Charles Sturt University. Her passion for working with animals is evident, as over the last two years she has worked as a veterinary assistant. She believes that a career in agriculture will enable her to give back to the community.”
The scholarship is open to students residing in a different state each year. In 2015, the association?s AGM was held in Sydney, so the scholarship was open to applicants from NSW and the ACT.
AAA has expressed an ongoing commitment to encouraging young people to pursue a career in agriculture. Their program rewards students who have the leadership qualities and work ethic needed for this growing – but demanding – industry.
Applications for the 2016 scholarship will open later in 2015. See the website for details.
